I was very close with my Poppy, my mom‘s father. We were like peas and carrots. He loved to go to the drugstore – that’s what they called it then – and buy all the big heart boxes filled with chocolates for half price on the day after Valentine’s Day. He would give me like 10 of these big heart boxes filled with chocolates. It’s really stuck with me so we have a tradition at The happy white pineapple 😊✨🌟💫🍍. We make cards on Valentines day for each other but the chocolates… they need to wait for the day AFTER Valentine’s Day. We’ve created a new - our OWN - holiday: February 15th. On this holiday (which is today), my kids each get a five dollar certificate with which they can choose any Valentine’s Day candy they want at CVS. They love that they can get double the candy for half the price. Then we go home and I hide the candy all around the Happy white pineapple 😊✨🌟💫🍍 and we have a Day after Valentine’s Day candy hunt. ❤️❤️ Think Easter, but Valentine’s Day. Why CAN’T we make up our own holiday, after all?
This whole tradition/holiday arose from my wonderful relationship with my Poppy. And him giving me half-price Valentine’s Day heart boxes filled with chocolates the day after Valentine’s Day.❤️
Now I get all squealey and excited for the day AFTER Valentine’s Day. And I just made the whole thing up.
